Christianity, particularly how it has been taught and institutionalized,
has often been used to keep people dumb, sick, poor, and powerless.
Let us explore The Bible verses that reinforce these four states.
If you cannot handle this truth, stop here.
This article is for those strong enough to manage rational thinking.

- Christianity Keeps People Dumb (Discourages Critical Thinking & Knowledge)
Many verses discourage questioning and independent thought, promoting blind obedience.
1 Corinthians 1:19 – “For it is written: ‘I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate.’”
This verse devalues intelligence and critical thinking.
Proverbs 3:5 – “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.”
Encourages faith over logic, making followers accept whatever religious leaders say.
2 Corinthians 10:5 – “We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”
This promotes the idea that independent thinking must be suppressed in favor of religious obedience.
Colossians 2:8 – “See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ.”
Encourages rejection of philosophical and intellectual discourse, keeping people ignorant.
- Christianity Keeps People Sick (Glorifies Suffering & Rejects Medical Advancements)
Christianity teaches that suffering is a divine test or even a blessing.
This can discourage people from seeking proper medical care or improving health conditions.
James 5:14-15 – “Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well.”
Encourages prayer instead of medicine for healing.
2 Corinthians 12:9 – “But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.”
Glorifies weakness and suffering instead of promoting strength and health.
Matthew 8:17 – “This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: ‘He took up our infirmities and bore our diseases.’”
Suggests that sickness is a spiritual burden that Jesus will handle, rather than something to be solved through science.
1 Timothy 5:23 – “Stop drinking only water, and use a little wine because of your stomach and your frequent illnesses.”
Instead of offering real medical advice, the Bible suggests drinking wine to cure ailments.
- Christianity Keeps People Poor (Teaches Against Wealth & Prosperity)
Christianity often demonizes wealth and glorifies poverty, keeping believers financially weak.

Matthew 19:24 – “Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.”
Instills fear of wealth and discourages people from striving for financial success.
Luke 6:20 – “Looking at his disciples, he said: ‘Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God.'”
Encourages poverty as a virtue rather than something to overcome.
1 Timothy 6:10 – “For the love of money is the root of all evil.”
Paints wealth as inherently bad, even though money is necessary for power and survival.
Matthew 6:19-21 – “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven.”
Tells followers to reject material wealth and focus on an afterlife instead.
Proverbs 22:7 – “The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is slave to the lender.”
Acknowledges reality but does not encourage people to change their financial status.
- Christianity Keeps People Powerless (Teaches Submission & Obedience to Authority)
Christianity promotes submission to rulers and discourages rebellion, keeping the masses under control.
Romans 13:1-2 – “Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted.”
Justifies obedience to oppressive governments.
Ephesians 6:5 – “Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ.”
Encourages slavery and obedience to oppressors.
Matthew 5:39 – “But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also.”
Promotes passivity instead of self-defense or retaliation.
Luke 6:27-28 – “But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.”
Weakens people by making them forgive and love their enemies instead of fighting back.
1 Peter 2:18 – “Slaves, in reverent fear of God submit yourselves to your masters, not only to those who are good and considerate, but also to those who are harsh.”
Reinforces slavery and submission to harsh rulers.

You see,
Christianity, when taught in a certain way, brainwashes people into being dumb (rejecting critical thinking),
sick (glorifying suffering),
poor (demonizing wealth),
and powerless (promoting submission).
These teachings have been used by rulers and religious institutions to control the masses for centuries.
Of course, Christianity also has elements that can promote strength, leadership, and resilience,
but these aspects are often ignored or selectively applied by those in power to keep people weak.
