The Bible cannot be the word of God for several undeniable reasons:
- Human Authorship & Editing
The Bible was written by men over centuries.
If it were truly God’s word, it wouldn’t have been subject to human errors, revisions, mistranslations, and political edits.
From the Council of Nicaea (325 AD) to King James’ translation (1611), powerful people have shaped the Bible for their own purposes.
- Contradictions & Inconsistencies
If an all-knowing God authored the Bible, it should be perfectly consistent. Yet, it’s full of contradictions:
Who killed Goliath? (1 Samuel 17:50 vs. 2 Samuel 21:19)
How did Judas die? (Matthew 27:5 vs. Acts 1:18)
Salvation by faith or works? (Romans 3:28 vs. James 2:24)
An all-perfect God would not produce a book filled with contradictions.
- Moral Failures & Atrocities
The Bible justifies slavery (Exodus 21:2-6, Leviticus 25:44-46),
genocide (Deuteronomy 20:16-18), rape (Deuteronomy 22:28-29),
and infanticide (Psalm 137:9).
A just and moral God would not command or condone such evil.
- Lost & Manipulated Texts
The Bible we have today isn’t even complete.
Many books were removed or lost (e.g., the Book of Enoch, Gospel of Thomas).
If it were truly divine, why allow humans to decide which parts are “holy” and which are not?
- Scientific & Historical Errors
The Bible says the Earth was created in six days (Genesis 1) and is only ~6,000 years old, contradicting all modern science.
It claims the Earth is flat with “four corners” (Revelation 7:1, Isaiah 11:12).
The flood story of Noah is a myth borrowed from older Mesopotamian tales like the Epic of Gilgamesh.
A book from an all-knowing God should be scientifically accurate, not filled with ancient myths.
- Other Religious Texts Exist
If the Bible were the only divine truth, why do other religions have their own “holy books”
(Quran, Vedas, Tao Te Ching) with similar claims?
The Bible is just one among many.
- God’s Message Shouldn’t Be So Confusing
If an all-powerful God wanted humans to know His word,
He wouldn’t rely on a book that requires endless interpretation, debate, and mistranslation.
A perfect God would communicate clearly and directly to all people, not through ancient texts written by men.
The Bible is a historical and cultural document, not the flawless word of an all-powerful God.
It has been changed, misinterpreted, and used to control people.
If there is a true divine message, it’s not found in a book that has been manipulated for centuries.
If one follows the Bible blindly-
without critical thinking or understanding the historical, cultural, and political context—
it can lead to outcomes like poverty, powerlessness, and even mental distress.
Here are some verses that can be misinterpreted in ways that encourage weakness, passivity, or self-destruction:
- Poverty & Financial Struggles
Matthew 19:24 – “Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.”
Blindly rejecting wealth could lead to unnecessary poverty.
Luke 6:29-30 – “If someone slaps you on one cheek, turn to them the other also.
If someone takes your coat, do not withhold your shirt.
Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back.”
Following this literally makes you an easy target for exploitation.
You are supposed to let an employee keep what they take from you, according to the “word of God.”
Matthew 6:19-20 – “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth… But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven.”
If taken literally, one may neglect wealth-building.
If you open your eyes, the poorest societies are also the most religious.
- Early Death & Self-Destruction
Matthew 5:39 – “Do not resist an evil person.”
This mindset can lead to passively allowing harm or even death.
Matthew 10:21-22 – “Brother will betray brother to death… and you will be hated by everyone because of me, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.”
Encourages tolerating suffering, even at the cost of survival.
Luke 9:24 – “Whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will save it.”
Encourages martyrdom and self-sacrifice over self-preservation.
- Mental Breakdown & Psychological Struggles
Matthew 5:28 – “But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.”
This unrealistic expectation can lead to guilt, shame, and repression.
Matthew 6:34 – “Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.”
Could be interpreted as ignoring planning and preparation.
1 Corinthians 1:19 – “For it is written: ‘I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate.’”
Could discourage critical thinking and intellectual growth.
- Powerlessness & Submissiveness
Romans 13:1-2 – “Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established.
The authorities that exist have been established by God.”
Encourages blind obedience to rulers, even corrupt ones.
Matthew 5:5 – “Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.”
Promotes meekness over dominance in a world where power rules.
1 Peter 2:18 – “Slaves, in reverent fear of God submit yourselves to your masters,
not only to those who are good and considerate, but also to those who are harsh.”
Justifies submission to oppression rather than resistance.
- Antisocial Behavior & Isolation
Matthew 10:34-36 – “Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.
For I have come to turn ‘a man against his father, a daughter against her mother… a man’s enemies will be the members of his own household.’”
Encourages division and isolation.
2 Corinthians 6:14 – “Do not be yoked together with unbelievers.”
Can lead to unnecessary separation from others in society.
Matthew 12:48-50 – “Who is my mother, and who are my brothers? … Whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.”
Devalues family bonds in favor of religious devotion.
Following the without questioning can lead to poverty, powerlessness, mental instability, and isolation.
On this platform, we can comfortably ignore the bible because it is misleading.
